Racial Wealth Gap Simulation Workshop Saturday at Peace Museum - FREE
The Hall Hunger Initiative will present the Racial Wealth Gap Simulation on Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 pm at the International Peace Museum, 10 N. Ludlow, Dayton 45402.
The Racial Wealth Gap is an engaging and powerful exercise exploring the historic policies that have led to today’s massive gap in wealth between white and Black families in America. The presentation uses an interactive simulation created by Bread for the World then HHI adds depth with local information that illustrates how racism is still harming the Miami Valley today.
“We know that poverty and systemic racism are root causes of hunger in America,” said Mark Willis, Director of the Hall Hunger Initiative. “This is a fundamental issue for HHI so we offer the Racial Wealth Gap simulation to open minds and increase understanding of how we got to where we are today.”
“We know it’s tough to have difficult conversations around race and racism. This guided discussion offers an avenue to talk about race and to learn from each other” said Willis.
This free program is open to the public and will run about 90 minutes. For questions, email mark@hallhungerinitiative.org
