Full Scale Space Shuttle Exhibit open daily
The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force is already one of the biggest attractions in the city, a longtime favorite for local schools and groups alike. Odds are, if you grew up in the area, you’ve been there multiple times.
Located in the fourth building, the space shuttle crew compartment trainer is surrounded by dozens of other space and research and development vehicles.
The Space Shuttle Crew Compartment Trainer 1 (CCT-1) is one of three shuttle mockups used to train shuttle astronauts. In CCT-1, crewmembers learned and practiced many procedures for space missions.
CCT-1 is an important piece of space history. NASA trained astronauts in it from the first shuttle mission in 1981 to the end of the program in 2011.
