FREE Staged Reading: FENCES by August Wilson
The performance is being directed by Gina Neuerer (THE) and features 6 current Sinclair African-American theatre majors: Shaun Diggs, Bryana Bentley, Antonio Davis, Andre Tomlinson, Tristan Rivera and Naman Clark.
Set in the 1950s, Fences is the sixth play in Wilson's ten-part "Pittsburgh Cycle". The play won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 1987 Tony Award for Best Play. A 2010 revival on Broadway starred Denzel Washington and Viola Davis as the married couple struggling with changing U.S. race relations. The revival was nominated for ten Tony Awards, winning three for Best Revival of a Play, Best Actor in a Play (Denzel Washington), and Best Actress in a Play (Viola Davis). Both performances start promptly at 6 p.m.
