The Therapeutic Riding Institute Announces the Successful Completion of Capital Campaign

Last fall, the Therapeutic Riding Institute publicly began raising money to purchase a twenty-three-acre farm in Sugarcreek Township. The goal was to raise $500,000 by May 1st. As of last night, they reached their goal.

“It has been an amazing journey!” Jacki Mayer, the Therapeutic Riding Institute’s Executive Director said. She joined the organization in February, in the midst of the campaign. “To witness the generosity of the community, the dedication of the staff, volunteers, students and their families as well as our Board members, has been amazing! This campaign has ensured that the Therapeutic Riding Institute is positioned to grow and flourish well into the future.”

The Therapeutic Riding Institute was co-founded in 1973 by Betty Lou Townley and Linden Moore. We emphasize Ability – not Disability. Our certified instructors teach horseback riding skills while helping to enhance the mental, physical, emotional and social well-being of individuals with special needs. We work with children as young as 5 years old to adults, including veterans and at-risk youth. Our goal is to provide a structured, compassionate and safe environment.
