Military May @ Dayton Funny Bone

As the nation celebrates and honors all of the men and women of our armed forces during the month of May, we here at the Dayton Funny Bone wanted to highlight a few of the ways that we would like to show our appreciation for all of our service members - aptly titled "Military May”:

We will be having military inspired shows - such as our "Support the Troops Open Mic Night" on May 22nd   at 7:30pm.  Any active duty or retired service member will have a chance to grace our stage and show us what they’ve got! The only requirement will be that they have at least 5 people call our box office (937 429-5233) and make reservations under their name…. and come out to the show. They will receive complimentary admission by saying the name of the person they are coming to support. A comedy workshop will be held May 19th (the Sunday before the show) from 2:00-4:00pm at the Dayton Funny Bone. Those wishing to participate in the show are highly encouraged to attend this workshop.

We will also be accepting donations to send to our deployed service members in exchange for free admission for any non-special engagement show (excluding Saturdays) through December 30th, 2013. 

We will be featuring a drink special called the "Red Dawn" - consisting of rum, amaretto, strawberry schnapps, sprite, cranberry juice, and a splash of sour. One dollar will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project for every "Red Dawn” sold during the entire month of May, so please ask for it by name and order a couple! Tell all of your friends and family as well!

We will also be accepting suggestions for a "fun and clean” idea for our new Support the Troops t-shirts. These shirts will be sold through MWR and here at the Funny Bone to help raise money for MWR programs for each branch of service. Please forward any suggestions to Rhenda@daytonfunnybone.com.

We are going to be setting up a contest box at WPAFB that will give everyone a chance to WIN dinner and show tickets (for two people) to an upcoming show.  If you would be interested in getting a box for your branch please contact me at Rhenda@daytonfunnybone.com.

We have our Military Thursday Show every week throughout the year. On this day, we offer $5 admission (Special Engagement shows excluded) for anyone who makes reservations (at least one day before the show) and let us know they have a military ID. This discounted ticket price is good for active duty service members as well as their dependents. We would like to start a competition between all the branches of military to find out who can really bring it. We will be offering a prize as well as bragging rights posted at the Dayton Funny Bone until the next branch steals the title.

We wanted to provide a family show in Military May…. but we missed it by one day!  We are going to be having a special family show on June 1st at 1:00pm - doors will open at 12:30pm. This will be a fun family oriented comedy/magic show headlined by local favorite Matthew David Stanley. Our kitchen will be available at this time as well.
