Soccer Showcase Highlights Aspiring Girl Soccer Players

Xenia, Ohio. In its sixth year, the Girls Soccer Showcase has brought many local area teams to compete at state of the art facilities in the Dayton area. 

 

This year, there are 116 teams from neighbouring states competing in the Girls Ohio Galaxy College Showcase. The Showcase committee has had to expand the number of turf soccer pitches to accommodate all the players. Athletes in Action, Xenia, will be the host site for the Girls Showcase. University turf fields will also be used including Wright State, University of Dayton and Wilmington College. In order to let the players show their talents, only fields with sports turf are used. Many local High School soccer fields as well as some Middle School fields will be used such as: Beavercreek; Centerville; Springboro; Bellbrook and Waynesville. All sites are within a short drive of Athletes in Action.

 

Nancy Shields, OGFC president is excited about the number of teams registered this year, 4 more than last year from U14 through U19 age groups. Athletes in Action, with two full-sized NCAA synthetic turf soccer fields and an interchangeable, fully lit, football/soccer field, provides the opportunity to comfortably host our Tournaments regardless of weather conditions. There are currently 63 College Coaches registered representing 51 local area Colleges. Many more will turn out during the event. The Showcase offers a great opportunity for soccer players to get in front of College Coaches.

 

The Showcase was designed by Coordinators Nancy Shields, OGFC President and Steven Pitchel, Chairperson for the event, to offer a safe site for college prospect soccer players to compete in front of College Soccer coaches from colleges all over the great Mid-West. The Boys College Soccer Showcase follows a week after the Girls Showcase, March 18th through 20th. Through supporting local area hotels and eateries, as well as supporting the area shopping centers, the Galaxies Showcase has brought in millions of dollars to support the local economy. Both events will provide spectators with top notch soccer matches.
