Exciting Races in August!
I know a lot of people who have committed to doing a certain amount of 5Ks this year, or maybe they want to do their first half marathon, or maybe they want to run the first race of their lives. To them I say, now is the time to get on it!
Exciting Races in August!
I know a lot of people who have committed to doing a certain amount of 5Ks this year, or maybe they want to do their first half marathon, or maybe they want to run the first race of their lives. To them I say, now is the time to get on it! Hazy August will leave you miserable, and as the fall starts to settle in, the nagging feeling will reach you that maybe too much time has passed.
Take a look at some of the exciting races coming up this month around town:
Carriage Hill 5K+ Trail Run (7 p.m. July 10 in Dayton)
This race will take you along Cedar Lake in Carriage Hill MetroPark in Dayton. It's an event held by the Ohio River Road Runners, so if you want to get plugged into the local running community and meet some people, here's your chance. The flat trail promises to make for encouraging pace and personal records. For more, go to http://www.orrrc.org/index.php/orrrc-events/july/77-carriage-hill-5k-trail-run
Hotter than Haiti 5K (9 a.m. July 13 in Springboro)
This one has been going on for a few years, and it's remained for a good cause. The Living Water Church, 40 Florence Ave. in Springboro, uses the race to support its continuing humanitarian efforts to rebuild Haiti. Miles for Mark 5K (9 a.m. July 27 in Centerville)
The too-short life of Mark Kreusch is a moving story, but when you see the way in which his family has honored the memory of their beloved boy, a three mile run will feel like small change. This race, which begins at Activity Center Park in Centerville, benefits the Mark Andrew Kreusch Memorial Fund, which raises money for programs that help children grow and thrive in the community.
