The Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow Celebrates 29th Year
The Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow returns Oct. 24th & 25th
After a record-breaking year of attendance in 2021, The Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow returns to the Stoddard Avenue hill behind Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmonte Park North in Dayton’s Grafton Hill neighborhood on October 24th and 25th from 6PM to 10PM. This year we will be celebrating our 29th year with the community. The Grafton Hill Neighborhood Association is asking the community to get involved by volunteering to gut, trace and carve the pumpkins this year.
Started in 1984 by Grafton Hill neighbor Judy Chaffin, known to all as The Pumpkin Lady, the event has grown from 30 pumpkins on the hill to nearly 1,000 jack-o-lanterns over the years.
“The Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow has become a Fall tradition for families in the Dayton community. The Grafton Hill Association is excited to invite the community in to help us gut and carve the pumpkins” said John Edinger, president of the Grafton Hill Association. “We have so much fun during the process—and have food available for volunteers throughout the day! The glow is a free event—open to the public, with thousands of people of all ages enjoying the unique jack-o-lanterns on display.”
Parking will be available at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, The Dayton Art Institute, The Dayton Masonic Center, Kettering Health Dayton and throughout the neighborhood. Stoddard Avenue will be open only to pedestrians to make it easy for little goblins and their families to enjoy the display.
Food trucks including El Meson, Urban Barbecue, The Claybourne Grill, and Billie Gold Bubble Tea in conjunction with The Family Bean Coffee Truck have committed to the event again this year. We are also excited to welcome back Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the new addition of the Grafton Hill Community Development Corporation food booth to the list of food vendors. The Friends of SICSA will also have goodies at the event to benefit SICSA Pet Adoption & Wellness Center. A true community affair!
