Six Officers who Ended Mass Shooting in 2019 Tell Their Story
The six current and former Dayton Police officers who ended the tragic mass shooting incident in the Oregon District on August 4, 2019, are talking about their actions publicly for the first time.
Sergeant W. Chad Knight (retired) and Officers Jeremy Campbell, Vince Carter, Dave Denlinger, Ryan Nabel, and Brian Rolfes participated in a recorded interview to talk about working in the Oregon District in the hours leading up to the shooting, stopping the threat in 32 seconds, the heroic actions of fellow officers and citizens in the immediate aftermath of the event, and how that night has affected them.
Officer Jeremy Campbell said during the interview, “I think we (officers) all share the same opinion that we would trade any medal or anything we received to get those nine people back.”
The conversation with the six officers can be viewed below.
