Summer in the City signature events 2023
Three signature events are planned during the annual summer celebration across downtown Dayton.
Summer in the City signature events begin in May
Dates have been announced for the Downtown Dayton Partnership’s (DDP) signature events taking place during this year’s AES Ohio Summer in the City celebration. The events are created with the purpose of encouraging more people to explore and discover new businesses and landmarks across downtown Dayton.
“Downtown really shines during the summer. There’s something here for everyone,” said Sandra K. Gudorf, president of the Downtown Dayton Partnership. “Summer in the City is our chance to showcase the best of what our community has to offer and welcome guests of downtown to become regular visitors or even future residents!”
1. The Square Is Where
The first of this year’s three signature events will last throughout the 2023 Summer in the City celebration. The Square Is Where takes place 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays May through September. Downtown residents, employees, and visitors are encouraged to pick up lunch from their favorite downtown business and spend their lunch hour on Courthouse Square. The Courthouse Square stage will be programmed daily with free entertainment, games, and other activities for guests to enjoy.
2. Downtown Housing Tour
Future residents will see some of downtown’s best living options during the Downtown Housing Tour, taking place on Saturday, May 13. Event participants are invited to take a closer look at some of the most popular and newest housing options around downtown. Downtown housing demand is consistently strong with high occupancy rates and the continued development of new housing options. This event will allow guests to learn more about housing options, see inside newly available units, and meet with current residents and neighbors.
3. Art in the City
Art in the City returns for its seventh year on Saturday, August 5. This day–long celebration of the arts will highlight painters, sculptors, dancers, actors, and more in venues and landmarks across downtown Dayton. Guests can shop the work of a variety of vendors, make crafts to take home, and even find their own artistic talent with the help of live demonstrations planned throughout the day. Art in the City is great for artists and art lovers of all kinds and ages. A two-week long Juried Art Show will officially kickoff in various downtown businesses during the Art in the City pre-pARTy preview event planned for First Friday, August 4.
