Car lovers of all stripes will congregate next week as the 2013 Dayton Auto Show brings numerous motors to town.
Cars from dozens of brands will congregate at the Dayton Convention Center February 21 through 24 . The auto show will be chance to see cars of all kinds - whether you're a diehard enthusiast or you're on the market for a new set of wheels.
"We have a bunch of different makes and models ranging from large manufacturers like GM, Buick, Chevrolet, GMC and Honda all the way down to the smaller ones and high-line like Mercedes-Benz," said Marie Gilman, auto show manager.
Among the events making this year special is a celebration of the much-beloved Corvette.
"Chevy's Corvette (top right) is celebrating 60 years so there's a special limited-edition package to go with that. We will also have a 2013 Camero (left), and some classic cars," Gilman said.
Among other activities will be contests for visitors. One contest will see a Fiat filled with balls, and people will have to guess how many balls are in the car. The winner will receive a 47-inch TV.
"I think one of the big benefits of an auto show is it's a one-stop shop for people in the market to buy a car, and the average age of cars on the road is 10-11 years, so a lot of people are in the market to be looking for that next vehicle." Gilman said.
"It's a great place to look if you have a few cars to look at instead of driving all over town. It's great to have them all under one roof to compare right there, regardless of whether you're looking for a car, to see what's new out there. We'll have the 2013s and maybe some 2014s."
Admission will be $7, but children under 12 can come for free. Transportation will be available at the Transportation Center Garage.
"It's going to be really neat to see the future of the auto industry," Gilman said.
