Top 5 Tastes for Dayton Summer Restaurant Week
The Miami Valley Restaurant Association held another sold out Summer Sneak Peek to Restaurant Week Wednesday evening. The popular preview event offered tastes from eleven local restaurants along with soft drinks, beer, wine, and cocktails made with StillWrights Bourbon, Spiced Rum, and Buckeye Vodka. The summer event moved indoors for 2017 at Prime Time Party Rental. Music was provided by Lift Off Entertainment and Prime Time made sure there were more sparkles, tables, and chairs than ever.
A heat index in the 90’s, full house, steam tables, griddles, ovens, flames, and an air conditioning fail sent many to the bar for liquid refreshments more than once. All the while most of the chefs, staff, and students preparing and serving the dishes appeared not to notice. Evidently this was no match for the hot humid kitchens they usually find themselves in.

1. Confit Pork Loin served with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts and Craft Root Beer BBQ Sauce @ ele`

2. Braised Pork with Appel Fennel Slaw and Caico e Pepe 'Mac n Cheese' @ Roost
Chef Downs rich and creamy Italian mac and cheese was delicious paired with braised pork perfectly complimented by the apple fennel slaw.

3. Corn Chowder @ Chappy's Social
Local sweet corn is at its peak right now and makes a perfect summer soup. There is no shortage or bacon or corn in this flavorful soup.

4. Sesame Soy Braised Pork Belly with Corn Crema @ Wheat Penny
Fork tender and super tasty, bacon lovers, this one’s for you.

5. Vanilla Creme Brûlée @ Cocos
The soft texture and creamy consistency are a real treat, nothing like the gelatinous versions elsewhere that turned me off this dessert long ago.

This cocktail is cool and refreshing, and any restaurant that carries StillWrights Spiced Rum can make it!
