Photos: A Sizzling Success at Bacon Fest 2024
Guests, judges, volunteers, and employees for the 11th annual Bacon Fest enjoyed an usually mild August day. A constant breeze and noticeably laid-back atmosphere resulted in a free-flowing crowd easily making their way from vendor to vendor. Moving the festival up a couple of weeks and the start time back one hour gave Daytonians the chance to attend more than one event today.
Many sweet and savory food entries were submitted. Because it’s Bacon Fest, the judges were looking for dishes that did a great job making bacon the star of the show. Scroll down for photos of the winners and some additional pics of our favorites from the 2024 Bacon Fest.

Most Baconlicious: Death Grip Donuts - Bacon Fest 2024
Don't Go Bacon My Heart! Wrapped in maple glaze, sprinkled with crispy bacon, seasoned with sea salt, and crowned with a chocolate drizzle that’ll make your heart skip a beat. The bacon flavor took center stage and was perfectly complimented by the maple glaze in this indulgent treat.
Critics Choice: Lilia's Outside Cafe - Bacon Fest 2024
If you had an eye on the judges table, you’d have noticed that the Cheddar Bacon Fries from Lillia’s Outdoor Café were well guarded. Crisp fries smothered in melted cheddar, loads of bacon, sour cream, & green onions. Yum!
Most Creative: Rolling Indulgence - Bacon Fest 2024
Rolling Indulgence earned this award with a golden, crispy exterior gives way to a molten core of gooey, melted mozzarella cheese. Encased in a blanket of savory bacon perfectly complimented by a fabulous garlic ranch dip.
Best Dessert: Batter Up Funnel Cakes - Bacon Fest 2024
Batter Up Funnel Cakes Bacon Encrusted Deep Fried Honey Bun took home Best Dessert. Served fresh out of the fryer, the crispy outside gave way to a soft sweet gooey center.
Best Side: Amber Rose - Bacon Fest 2024
Amber Rose’s White Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese brought symphony of flavors and textures. Each spoonful is a comforting embrace, a perfect blend of cheesy savory satisfaction. They won in 2018 with an Apple Smoked version of this dish.
Amber Rose: Bacon Wrapped Smoked Turkey Leg - Bacon Fest 2024
If you’ve never had a Bacon Wrapped Smoked Turkey Leg I highly recommend them. You may look a bit neanderthal walking around with it in hand, but once you taste it, I doubt you’ll care.
Best Dish & Peoples Choice: 1776 Grill - Bacon Fest 2024
1776 Grill has done it again. Taking home two awards with their amazing Bacon Stuffed Garlic Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Congrats on giving the people what they want. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! 1776 has won People’s Choice for four consecutive years (they tied with Amber Rose’s Bacon Wrapped Smoked Turkey Leg in 2021).
