From the group that brought Miami Valley Restaurant Week, a new event is planned next week to showcase local restaurants and spirits combined.
Miami Valley Takes Flight will begin March 10 and has now been extended thru March 22. "It's a brand new event, a pairing of wine and beer flights, and some martini flights with small plates at many Dayton restaurants", said Amy Zahora, executive director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association.
It will be set up similar to MVRA's other popular event, Restaurant Week. At least 12 restaurants have already confirmed, and Zahora said the number will likely expand to 15 or 20. She noted that like Restaurant Week, this event is expected to start small and grow over time.
Flights will range from $15 to $20 with $1 per flight benefiting Ohio Prevents Blindness.
The beers and wine will be different per restaurant. Many of the wines will be red and white varieties from Allied Wines and Heidelburg Distributing (Kona, Widmer, and Goose Island). Buckeye Vodka, Morgan Services, Dayton Local, and Bevinco are also sponsoring the event alongside many craft beer brands.
"Our president, Shanon Morgan came up with the concept - and the restaurants I've talked too so far are very excited about it," Zahora said. "It's a great way to drive business into the restaurants for people to sample some of the beers and wines they have available, but also for them to showcase their culinary skills with some of their different appetizers and entrees in a smaller plate that people can sample."

- Amelia's Bistro (Tuesday-Friday)
- Bella Vino Wine Merchants (Tuesday-Friday)
- Chappy's (Monday-Friday)
- CoCo's Bistro (Monday-Friday)
- Company 7 BBQ (Monday-Friday)
- Cadillac Jack's - Beavercreek, Centerville, and Fairborn locations (Mon-Fri)
- El Meson (Monday-Friday)
- The Dock (Tuesday-Friday)
- Lucky's Taproom (Monday-Friday)
- The Tropics (Monday-Friday)
- Pasha Grill (Monday-Friday)
"It's a great way for people to try some different foods and wines, and maybe come back if they find something they like," Zahora said. "Beer has become cool, with all the different craft brews out there, people love trying them. I think people will have a lot of fun with it."
She noted many of the restaurant menus will be available on the MVRA website.
