Lisa’s Top Picks for 2025 Winter Restaurant Week
Lisa’s Top Picks for 2025 Winter Restaurant Week
The MVRA's Sneak Peek Winter event welcomed a crowd of eager foodies following bitter cold temperatures the first 3 days of the week. Each of us excited to taste our way around the room.
Winter Restaurant Week inspired comfort foods, soups, stews, and hearty dishes designed to warm us from the inside out. Kudos to the restaurants for preparing their tasty dishes, assembling a team for the event, transporting it all to Dayton’s Steam Plant in still frigid temps, and serving us with smiles.
#1 Salmon, Shrimp, and Grits
Morgans Fine Cuisine & Catering, newly opened in the Wright Dunbar Historic District, earned my top pick with cheesy grits topped with flaky salmon and shrimp in a cream sauce. My picture does not do it justice.
#2 Beef Rouladen
Amber Rose’s mouthwateringly delicious roulades stuffed, browned, and simmered in a rich beef gravy. Rouladen is not quick and I’m so glad they took the time to prepare this traditional German specialty. There’s a pickle in the middle, though it’s not a big dill (they’re German pickles).
#3 Cheesecake
All The Best Deli’s housemade cheesecake with or without the offered raspberry syrup is just right, not too sweet. YUM!
All twelve restaurants brought their A game! I love that we have so many incredible restaurants in the Miami Valley.
