Amy's Top 3 Tastes for 2018 Winter Restaurant Week
The Winter Restaurant Week Preview is an opportunity to taste delectable treats from some of the region’s talented chefs and get a sneak peek at menu offerings and special deals from several restaurants across the Miami Valley the week of January 21-28, 2018.
It was hard to choose favorites from the many plates sampled, but here are my top three selections:
Chicken Rouladen
This creamy chicken roll is a delicious departure from my favorite schnitzel dishes. It’s also a great alternative for those who are not fond of cabbage or sauerkraut as featured in some of the restaurant’s signature entrees.
Where to find: Amber Rose
Buffalo Chicken Tacos
Let’s face it. You just can’t beat a good spicy buffalo chicken dish during football season and this sample put me in Super Bowl tailgate party mode. This one scored a touchdown in my playbook!
Where to find: Chappy’s Social House
Shrimp and Grits
I first tried this amazing dish at Bacon Fest at the Fraze and it was every bit as scrumptious on this frigid winter’s night as it was in the sweltering summer heat. The perfect blend of sweet and zesty and yummy - no fork required!
Where to find: ele Cake Company Bistro and Wine Bar
While I didn’t pick a dessert as one of my top three choices, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the fabulous Creme Brûlée from Coco's. Definitely a crowd favorite and was worth the wait.
From fried quail eggs (which I tried for the first time and found quite tasty) to lobster queso, the quality and variety of menu items showcased during the preview event is reminiscent of big city dining options. I am reminded that there are many undiscovered culinary treasures right here in the Gem City and I can’t wait to try new places and return to some old favorites as part of Winter Restaurant Week.
