What restaurants offer more than just meat dishes sans meat? Where can you find amazing vegetarian friendly food around Dayton?
5 Amazing Vegetarian Friendly Restaurants in Dayton
1. Olive, an Urban Dive - With their penchant for serving fresh, local food it's no wonder Olive, an Urban Dive tops my list of vegetarian friendly restaurants in the Dayton area. Rather than just offering their meat dishes sans meat at the same price, Olive always has fresh and flavorful meals designed to be meat free. Olive has some of the most inventive chefs in the region cooking up creative vegetarian (and vegan) meals for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
2. Lucky's Taproom & Eatery - It's widely regarded as truth that vegetarians are health nuts who prefer salad to bar food. While most vegetarians don't mind the occasional roughage, many also crave the same comfort foods their carnivore cousins get to enjoy all the time. That's why it's so great that we have Lucky's in the Oregon District serving up tofu hot dogs, vegan chili, and seitan gyros. Lucky's really goes the extra mile to accommodate vegetarians while still providing them with plenty of hearty, stick-to-your-ribs meals.
3. Carmel's - This fun, Tex-Mex bar and restaurant has plenty of vegetarian options that taste just as good as (if not better than) meat dishes. I especially love their portobello menu (that's right, an entire separate menu dedicated to their portobello mushroom offerings), namely the portobello quesadilla. Plus, they serve some of their margaritas in those fun little cactus stem glasses!
4. Trolley Stop - When you absolutely, positively must have hummus, there is no place better than Trolley Stop. Their menu has plenty of other amazing vegetarian friendly food, so much so that your friends will probably inadvertently order vegetarian options, too! I love their quesadillas, wraps, sandwiches, and soups - yes, they have vegetarian versions of all of these things and more!
5. Christopher's - Of course, no list of vegetarian friendly restaurants in the Dayton area would be complete without Christopher's in Kettering. This place has one of the biggest menus I've ever seen but somehow doesn't compromise quality. When you commit to the vegetarian lifestyle, you quickly realize how few options you have at most restaurants - you even get used to it. Visiting a restaurant like Christopher's can thereby be a real shock because they have so many wonderful menu items to choose from! I recommend the lasagna because, come on, how often do you see lasagna on a vegetarian menu?
Honorable mentions: For brunch, look no further than Butter Cafe (their tofu scramble is scrumptious). Greek Isle Deli in Riverside denotes which menu items are vegetarian. Plan on visiting the first Friday of every month between 4:00-8:00 pm for their all-you-can-eat Greek buffet where you'll enjoy all your favorites (and maybe find some new ones).
