Ready to escape reality? The Great Escape Game reopens today
When news of the state lockdown broke in March, The Great Escape Game, was entering its peak season.
Daniel Huiet and his partner Mike Keggan, both Beavercreek High School graduates, opened The Great Escape Game in 2016. The interactive experience has proven popular with groups of families and friends looking for fun, as well as with companies looking for exciting team-building activities.
If you're not familiar with the concept, participants are trapped in "escape rooms" and given one hour to solve the clues and puzzles in order to escape. The Great Escape Game has 6 "rooms" to choose from, each designed so players feel immersed in the game.
Huiet told us that prior to the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 was looking like another record-breaking year for the Great Escape Game.
"Everything changed overnight. Not only did we have to close the business indefinitely, we had to lay off employees, and refund thousands of dollars of advanced reservations," Huiet said. "It's been tough. As days turned into weeks, we wondered how the business would survive".
Huiet plans to reopen the Great Escape Game today with strict new cleaning guidelines, and updated scheduling procedures to ensure there is no overlap between groups.
"For now, all of our escape rooms have been switched to private experiences which means you won't be paired with someone that you don't know," Huiet said.
"We're excited to be back," Huiet said. "You can count on our professionalism and awareness of the pandemic while still helping you escape reality!"
The Great Escape Game reopens today. Your route to escaping reality starts with making a reservation on their website.
