My Dream Beside Me
A true life love story, involving a Dayton woman, is so remarkably moving that it was turned into a movie. "My Dream Beside Me," starring Mary Kay Slesinger Rich as herself, is about a three time widow who found the ultimate happiness in her last husband, proving that love has no age or boundaries. "My Dream Beside Me" is showing at Neon on Sunday, April 13 at 3p.m.
At 62 years old, after losing her husband of 34 years, Mary Kay met Paul Rich. JR, who was 87. They were married shortly after and spent 13 years together, which Mary Kay describes as 'heaven.' He showered her with love every day, until his death at the age of 101. Paul had previously been married for 66 years before becoming a widow. Together they healed each others hearts.
Mary Kay lived in Dayton for a number of years, but after meeting Paul she moved to Buffalo. Figuring that there's nobody who could play her any better in the movie than herself, Mary Kay makes her on screen debut in the film.

The role of Paul Rich JR. is played by Jeff Rose (Drop Dead Diva), who ages more than 40 years to bring believability to the role. He wears Paul's actual clothes in the movie and lays in the bed where he slept.
Audiences have embraced "My Dream Beside Me" which finished above "Divergent" at the box office in some cities around the country. It's directed by Greg Robbins. For the screening on April 13 at the Neon, Mary Kay will be in attendance. Showings of "My Dream Beside Me" has also been scheduled for May 9 & !0 at the Mayflower Arts Center in Troy.
