Grand Opening Weekend for the PNC Arts Annex
The Victoria Theatre Association (VTA) is proud to announce the opening of the PNC Arts Annex that will be celebrated with a Grand Opening Weekend on Nov. 30 – Dec. 2. A wide variety of events is scheduled throughout the weekend for everyone to enjoy. Located on the southeast corner of Second and Ludlow (10 North Ludlow Street, Suite 100) the PNC Arts Annex is a 12,000 square feet space, divided into a theater, studio, gallery/lobby space, and backstage area.
The PNC Arts Annex includes:
- 200-seat performance space with movable risers and flexible seating options
- Professional sound and light equipment
- Large studio space for classes and workshops, including a spring floor, ideal for choreography, dance classes and performances
- Gallery/Lobby space perfect for meetings, receptions, and parties
- Warming kitchen for food service
For the Grand Opening this weekend the entire space will be utilized with a variety of performances, classes, and workshops. The offerings include acting classes, steel drum workshop, funk unplugged concert, poetry slam, and Yoga & Mimosas or Yoga & NoMosas. A full list of happenings and the opportunity to reserve a spot for them is at victoriatheatre.com/artsannex.
One of the many benefits of the Annex is that it will help in the development of some new theatergoers. “With a space like the PNC Arts Annex, the more important metric will be activation. How many days are we in use? Are we finding new audiences? As we see patron data, are they new or returning? The real story of success will be based on those questions. The key for VTA as an organization is introducing new audiences to performances and events. When those audiences become long-term patrons of our varied venues and offerings, we are creating future success for the entire organization and our community,” said Ty Sutton, President & CEO of the VTA.
The fundraising for the Annex started over two years ago with the total cost of construction being close to $2 million. Along with some generous sponsors, it was all made possible by a lead gift from PNC Bank. “At PNC, we recognize that access to quality arts experiences enriches lives and builds stronger and more vibrant communities, which ultimately helps drive business and economic development. But it’s about more than that. This space is about community. It’s about bringing people together and expanding access to our highly diverse regional artists. It’s about finding and often engaging hidden talent, which helps bring people together, forming new friendships, new relationships and new opportunities for collaboration, “ said David C. Melin, PNC Regional President of the Dayton market.
The PNC Arts Annex theatre, the studio, and the gallery/lobby areas will all be available for rental at reasonable rates for live performances of all kinds, educational activities, workshops, classes, creative gatherings, parties, meetings, receptions and more. Arts organizations like the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance, Dare 2 Defy, Magnolia Theatre Company, and The Playground, as well as other non-profits and businesses such as JDRF Southwest Ohio and Taylor Communications have all expressed interest in using the venue.
