Spotlight on the Future: Dayton Live Seeks $25 Million for Venue Renovations
Dayton Live, the region's leading arts organization, has launched a new campaign, "Spotlight on the Future Capital," aimed at raising $25 million to ensure the continued success of its world-class performing arts venues. The campaign, which has already secured $10.2 million, seeks to address critical maintenance and renovation needs at the Schuster Center, Victoria Theatre, PNC Arts Annex, Metropolitan Arts Center, and Arts Garage.
These venues are part of our community’s elevated artistic life, hosting more than 400,000 individuals each year, and are an integral partner in Downtown Dayton and the region’s economic development and business growth. Dayton Live’s programming and additional uses have a vast economic impact on the region of at least $25 million.
The campaign's public phase was officially launched on September 12th, with a celebratory event at the Schuster Center's Wintergarden. The campaign is expected to last five years.
Unlike many other cities, Dayton Live does not receive tax dollars for the maintenance of these facilities. The annual cost of operating these venues is substantial, and the campaign seeks to address a growing backlog of maintenance needs.
Funds raised through the campaign will be used to renovate and upgrade the venues, including replacing aging systems, equipment, and structures. The Schuster Center, for example, requires a new roof, elevators, and carpeting, while the Victoria Theatre needs significant updates to its infrastructure.
These are the places where you make lasting memories, experience world class performances, and even explore your own creativity," said Gary Minyard, Chief Creative Officer at Dayton Live. "The ability to pro-actively address these challenges will ensure that world class performing arts experiences will continue to bring people together in Dayton for generations to come."
