Irish website independent.ie has reported that We Banjo 3, who are currently in the middle of a US tour, have been chosen to perform for the U.S. President on Capitol Hill next week. The band described the news as “a huge honour” revealing their delight that the event was scheduled for one of their few days off during the US tour.
"Excited doesn't fully cover it." said band member Enda Scahill. "There's going to be a photo opportunity with the President and our goal is to get a picture of him holding an Irish banjo!"
Following their successful debut last year, the award-winning quartet will also be returning to Dayton Celtic Festival this summer. Self-characterized as "Irish Music with Old-Time American and Bluegrass influences", We Banjo 3 have seen their popularity explode in the US recently, and are expected to perform to over 300,000 people in the United States during three separate tours this year.
