Chappelle talks to Colbert, compares Yellow Springs to The Simpsons
Local comedian Dave Chappelle talked about Yellow Springs during an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" that aired on last week on CBS.
Chappelle said his small hometown of Yellow Springs, Ohio, has such a tight-knit community that no one was surprised to see him appear at the town hall this past Spring.
"It's not a big deal, like everybody knows me" Chappelle said, before comparing Yellow Springs to the animated TV sitcom, The Simpsons. "You see the same people everyday, and I’m like the local Krusty the Clown.”
Chappelle explained he was at the meeting to voice his concerns regarding an incident where Yellow Springs police clashed with residents during the village’s annual New Year’s Eve ball drop.
During the segment, Chappelle commented on the culture in Yellow Springs.
"By the way, [Yellow Springs] is like in the middle of Trump Country," Chappelle said, "but culturally, this is like a Bernie Sanders island in the middle of a Trump sea."
Chappelle also took the opportunity to update the now-infamous "Give Trump A Chance" statement he made during an appearance on Saturday Night Live last November.
"It's not like I wanted to give him a chance that night," Chappelle said. "You know, listen, man, in the last six months, I think we're all getting an education about the presidency."
