We’re seeing more sun and higher temperatures in downtown Dayton, which means it’s almost time for Summer In the City, presented by AES Ohio! This year’s summer-long party will feature three signature events: The Downtown Housing Tour on Saturday, May 11, The Downtown Adventure on Saturday, June 29, and Art in the City on Saturday, August 3.
“Downtown Dayton is the place to be year-round, but it really comes alive during Summer in the City,” said Katie Meyer, President of the Downtown Dayton Partnership. ”These events showcase the community's vibrancy, creativity, and downtown lifestyle. Whether you're into history or architecture, shopping or craft beer, classical music or contemporary dance, downtown has it all.”
The first of this year’s three signature events, the Downtown Housing Tour, will focus on downtown housing options, amenities, and why downtown Dayton is such an in-demand address. A self-guided tour of available and soon-to-be available apartments will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Breakout tours focusing on recreation, public art, nearby retailers, and more will take place throughout the event. Downtown occupancy remains consistently high with even more options and development in the works. This event will allow guests to learn more about housing options, see inside newly available units, get a sneak peek of units that will be available soon, and meet with current residents and neighbors.
Think you know downtown Dayton? Back by popular demand, explore your city during the Downtown Adventure on Saturday, June 29! Hundreds of players of all ages have taken on this challenge to get to know their community, put their downtown knowledge to the test for great prizes, and most importantly, HAVE FUN! This scavenger hunt-style adventure features questions, games, and challenges at various downtown businesses and landmarks. Grab your team to complete as many clues as you can in the allotted time! The three teams with the most correct answers will be handsomely rewarded with cash prizes.
Art in the City returns for its eighth year on Saturday, August 3! This community-wide celebration of the arts highlights local painters, sculptors, dancers, actors, and visual & performing artists of all kinds. Guests are invited to shop with a variety of local vendors, enjoy live performances and demonstrations, make crafts to take home, and tap into their own artistic sides as they join hands-on experiences and workshops planned throughout the day at various downtown venues and landmarks. Art in the City is an exciting event for artists and art lovers of all kinds and ages!
