The community is invited to view and comment on concept plans for five MetroPark locations during open houses this October.
MetroParks asks community to review park concept plans
The October open houses will unveil the concept plans for Carriage Hill, Twin Creek and Germantown, Possum Creek MetroParks and the Medlar Conservation Area, proposed to be renamed Medlar MetroPark.
“The organization’s Comprehensive Master Plan, completed in 2016, identified community priorities that focus on protecting natural areas and river corridors, providing great parks and trails, and offering experiences to encourage healthy outdoor lifestyles and to connect to nature,” stated Becky Benná, Five Rivers MetroParks executive director.
“One of the recommendations in the Comprehensive Master Plan includes updating or completing park master plans for each MetroPark location. Staff has worked over the past several months to collect valuable feedback from the community regarding its needs and priorities. Based on the community’s input and guidance, the park concept plans will guide us in planning for the future care and maintenance of our parks and natural areas; prioritization of improvements and services; as well as budgeting to meet the future needs of the community,” Benná continued.
In early summer, the park concept plans for Eastwood, Wegerzyn, Englewood, and Aullwood MetroParks were presented to the community, as well as for the proposed Spring Run MetroPark, the site of the Wetland Mitigation Bank and the former Larch Tree Golf Course.
Each open house will begin with a presentation of the park concept plan and be followed with the opportunity for the public to discuss the plan with staff and provide feedback. Additionally, all five plans will be available to view at each open house. People are welcome to stop in at any time.

MONDAY, OCT. 9: PUBLIC PRESENTATION AND OPEN HOUSE FOR TWIN CREEK AND GERMANTOWN METROPARK
- 6 to 8 p.m. at the Germantown MetroPark office, 6675 Conservancy Rd.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 18: PUBLIC PRESENTATION AND OPEN HOUSE FOR POSSUM CREEK METROPARK
- 6 to 8 p.m. at Possum Creek MetroPark’s Education Building, 4790 Frytown Rd.
MONDAY, OCT. 23: PUBLIC PRESENTATION AND OPEN HOUSE FOR MEDLAR METROPARK, formerly MEDLAR CONSERVATION AREA
- 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miami Township Library, 2718 Lyons Rd.
Those who cannot attend scheduled open houses are invited to review and comment on the park concept plans online starting Oct. 2. Visit metroparks.org/plan to provide feedback and review the draft park site plans. Feedback also can be provided to Five Rivers MetroParks by contacting 937-275-PARK (7275) or email@metroparks.org through Dec. 1.
