Hiring Our Heroes, the nation’s leading nonprofit helping veterans, military spouses, and transitioning service members find meaningful careers, will host an Amplify event providing professional development and networking opportunities for military spouses in the Dayton area on April 23 & 24, 2025. Military spouse unemployment and underemployment are long-standing concerns, and the military spouse unemployment rate is currently 21% – five times higher than the national average. Contributing factors include frequent relocations, increased family responsibilities when a partner is deployed, and limited employment options near military bases.
WHAT: Amplify, a professional development and career preparation workshop for military spouses.
WHO: Amplify attendees will focus on career-related topics such as public speaking, salary negotiations, networking skills, and interview techniques.
WHEN: April 23 (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) & 24 (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
WHERE: Wright State University (3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy., Dayton, Ohio)

“Currently, the military spouse community is facing a high percentage of unemployment and underemployment. That economic instability is causing a ripple effect in the recruitment and retention of our all-volunteer military force. It is imperative we build pathways to sustainable employment for the military spouse community and look to this community as a workforce solution,” said Melissa Sanderson, senior director, Hiring Our Heroes Military Spouse Program.
