Grant will fund streetscape improvements for the Oregon District
The Oregon District Business Association is pleased to announce it has received a $945.43 grant from the 2019 Keep Montgomery County Beautiful program. These funds will support the Oregon District’s spring beautification initiative and Oregon District Beautification Day event to be held on May 20th, 2019.
The overall scope of the beautification project is to clean the district’s street planters, install annuals, install mulch, purchase new planters, and maintain the Oregon District streetscape throughout the spring, summer, and fall. The project area consists of 5th Street between Patterson and Wayne Ave., and sections of Wayne Ave., Brown St., and 6th Street. The area has approximately 25 large planters and 12 concrete beds that will be serviced by grant funds. The Oregon District Business Association intends to continue having Beautification Day events every spring.
“Being awarded the Keep Montgomery County Beautiful Grant allows our businesses to participate in the district’s beautification efforts without additional financial strain and creates a greater sense of pride in maintaining the image of our neighborhood. The Oregon District is a special place in Dayton and we want locals and guests to feel that when they visit.” says Carolyn DesJardin, Executive Director of the Oregon District Business Association.
The mission of Keep Montgomery County Beautiful is to promote litter prevention, neighborhood cleanups, beautification efforts, and community pride in Montgomery County, Ohio. Keep Montgomery County Beautiful is a program of the Montgomery County Solid Waste District. This grant is available on a competitive basis to Montgomery County 501©3 non-profit organizations, volunteer groups and other applicable community organizations. The grant provides up to $1,000 to assist beautification projects taking place within Montgomery County.
The Oregon District Business Association (ODBA) is a non-profit organization comprised of persons and businesses with a common interest in the economic well-being of the Oregon District, a Registered National Historic Site and entertainment hub in Dayton with retail, restaurants, bars, apartments, condominiums, and other professional services. The Oregon District Business Association works to promote the general business interests of its members by strengthening community involvement through activities and outreach, sharing business knowledge and talents, and maintaining a positive identity for the Oregon District.
