It is with deep sadness that the Dayton Municipal Court announces the passing of the Honorable Judge John S. Pickrel, on Sunday, June 28, 2020.
Judge Pickrel was appointed to the Dayton Municipal Court bench in 1984 by Governor Richard Celeste. He first served as administrative judge and then as presiding judge, from 1991 to 2016. He retired in 2016.
In 2003, Judge Pickrel established the first mental health court in this area of Ohio. His compassion, vision, and leadership were instrumental in creating many other Court programs.
