8:46 - Dave Chappelle

Local resident Dave Chappelle speaks out on George Floyd's death in a video filmed at the Wirrig Pavilion in Yellow Springs on June 6. The title "8:46" relates to the length of time George Floyd had a Minneapolis police officer kneeling on his neck, resulting in his death.

"This man kneeled on a man's neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Can you imagine that?!" Chappelle says during the performance. "This kid thought he was going to die, he knew he was going to die. He called for his dead mother."

Chappelle does not hold back, ripping into critics including Don Lemon, Laura Ingraham, and Candace Owens.

"I see Candace Owens trying to convince white America 'don't worry about it, he's a criminal anyway,'" Chappelle said.

"We didn’t choose him as a hero, you did! They killed him and that wasn’t right so he’s the guy. We’re not desperate for heroes in the black community, any n***** who survives this nightmare is my goddamn hero."

"Normally I wouldn't show you something so unrefined, I hope you understand," Chappelle posted below the video.
