Libraries Rock: Zak Morgan

Free, live concerts for kids and teens this summer at the Dayton Metro Library

Grammy nominated songwriter Zak Morgan's unique brand of children's music inspires and tickles the funny bones of children and adults alike. His live performances are always filled with laughter and warmth as he encourages children to read, imagine and believe in themselves. Cincinnati Magazine said of Morgan, "He's got Shel Silverstein's wit, Cat Stevens's sound, Jimmy Buffett's crowd appeal."

After earning a B.A. in English from Kenyon College, Zak Morgan worked at Paradise Guest Ranch in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. By day he entertained children, and at night he performed for family audiences. There, the seeds of his career as a children's performer were planted. In 1995 Morgan moved to New York City to work for Recorded Books, Inc., a leading publisher of audiobooks. Within four years he had risen to the position of Director of Rights Acquisitions and had immersed himself in the rich offerings of children's literature.

“Libraries Rock” is more than just the slogan for the Dayton Metro Library’s Summer Challenge reading program – it also describes the Main Library during a series of free, live concerts for kids and teens this summer.
