Strawberry Donut Day at Coldwater Cafe
The Troy Strawberry Festival may have been canceled, but Coldwater Cafe in Tipp City will be serving strawberry donuts and other strawberry-infused treats and desserts today.
Executive chef, Katy Fischer will be out in front of the restaurant in Tipp City, frying up fresh strawberry donuts starting at 10am. The event will run through 7pm or until they are sold out.
A dozen strawberry doughnuts will cost $12, and a portion of the profits will be donated to the Troy High School Band and Music Boosters, who have benefited from the sale of strawberry donuts at the festival for about 20 years.
Chef Katy, who came up with the plan, said in a video message that they have been floored with the pre-sales of donuts, which have now stopped, and support from the community has been overwhelming. Jims Donuts in Vandalia will be helping out, while Bills Donuts in Centerville have loaned them equipment, and the Tipp City Fire Department has loaned them an additional fryer.
The strawberry donut sale will begin at 10am outside Coldwater Cafe and Bodega, the cafe's wine and specialty foods market located next door. Chef Katy said the donuts are not the same as the ones at the festival (pictured above), but they are strawberry, not cherry. The sale is cash only outside.
Other options for strawberry-infused treats available to buy inside Bodega will include strawberry cheesecakes, muffins, strawberry pies, strawberry rhubarb pie, and strawberry bread.
