Local farmer turns to KickStarter
Frieszell Liberty Gardens, owned by Brock Frieszell, is located on a historic 1870s farm in New Lebanon OH, family owned since the 1960s. Founded earlier this year, Frieszell hopes to raise $30,000 by November 19 to prepare for their second season- and to raise the capital, he turned to Kickstarter.
"We are looking to get many critical improvements in place to better server the local farmers markets and communities we attend." Frieszell said. Improvements cited include: Drainage, greenhouses, irrigation, refrigeration cooler, wheel hoe, tillers, seeder, U-Pick Strawberries, Bee supplies, and other reusable produce supplies.
Frieszell said Liberty Gardens is conservative based and founded on the the concept if you "give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime". They hope to start holding educational work shops for local churches and community gardens in 2016, and to improve and build their growing practices for higher sustainable weekly yields.
Other projects we are looking at in coming years include a market stand, playground, education center/bouquet hall, small cabins, a small educational orchard, hopfield, and vineyard, grass fed meats. and restoration of historic buildings on site.
"We would like to thank all of our customers, friends, and family that have grown with us on our incredible first season. Without your support it would not have been possible to bring all these treasures to market." Frieszell said.
