The Magical Playgrounds at Countryside Park
Located behind the Washington Township Rec Center, Countryside Park is 26 acres of fun and serenity. The park is used for outdoor programs and summer camps, although for many families around the Miami Valley, Countryside Park is better known as "Woodland Lights" - a winter wonderland of fun and Christmas lights - the place thousands of local children get to visit Santa at the historic log cabin during his annual worldwide tour.
However, if you only visit Countryside Park in December, you are missing out. With three beautiful ponds, walking trails, play fields and more, this park is perfect for family. But that's not the best part. There are also two interactive, accessible, and magical playgrounds your kiddos are going to love!
The "Butterfly Meadow" playground is located next to the A-Frame in the SouthEast area of the park opened in 2013. The playground features spider-web like climbing frames which can make for challenging play, while large climb-on bugs offer some smaller climbing opportunities. Butterfly benches are positioned for the parents to watch.
The "Nature Sounds" playground, located directly behind the Recreation Center, opened in 2014. This accessible musical playground allows kids to experience interactive play with large outdoor instruments and includes vertical and horizontal xylophones, 5 hand drums, nine-foot tall chimes. Creative play is also encouraged through a stage area where kids can perform while parents enjoy the show from a seating area.
