The Boonshoft Museum Hosts Super Science Saturday Spring Fling
Spend a day at the Museum discovering science! On Saturday, March 23, 2019, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery presents another fun, FREE Admission Super Science Saturday. Themed Spring Fling, the focus of the day explores all things spring! From plants to humans, the spring sky, and other carbon-based life-forms, we will explore living things all around us and discover the renewal of life that spring brings.
The Boonshoft Museum is dedicated to providing Dayton area residents with science-focused programming and fun for the entire family. Each year, the Museum hosts four dates that will offer FREE admission from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. These special learning days include access to our Special Exhibitions, Space Theater Shows (limited seating available), and public programming.
The focus of educational programming during this Spring Fling edition of Super Science Saturday is Metamorphosis. Join Museum staff as they explore nature’s nurseries, such as streams and ponds.
At 10:30 a.m. drop in on Pre-school Science, where guests can come face-to-face with an amphibian and learn about their development and life-cycles. Discover how a tadpole becomes a frog, and learn about the evolution of a young salamander. At 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the Do Lab investigates nurseries for different species of aquatic animals, and determines the status of their health. At 1:30 p.m. follow the journey of a water droplet through the water cycle in our Science On a Sphere® program. At 2:30 p.m. join the education department as they conduct chemical analysis to determine the health of a stream.
Upcoming dates for Super Science Saturday in 2019 are Saturday, March 23, Saturday, May 18, Saturday, August 17, and Saturday, November 16, when we host The Dayton Science Festival. Super Science Saturday is a special treat for youngsters, and creative games and activities that inspire scientific curiosity abound. Regular Museum programming continues as scheduled and Discovery Zoo animal ambassadors will tour the building, greeting guests throughout the day.
Dawn Kirchner, VP of Education at the Boonshoft Museum said, “The beauty of nature is reflected by spring. This Super Science Saturday celebrates the science behind the renewal of life in all of its diversity.”
There will be food-truck vendors stationed outside the doors, ready to cater to the appetites of science lovers at reasonable prices.
All Super Science Saturday programs and activities are FREE as part of the day-long science celebration. Visit our website for complete schedule of events.
