Dayton Metro Library is pleased to welcome a unique exhibit titled What ABOUT Hair, presented by the Women Strong Art Project. This unique exhibit is on display at the Main Library, Third Street Bridge, Second Floor, through Saturday, February 25, and features the works of female artists who share their stories of how hair is or is not an issue for her art and/or life.
What ABOUT Hair is an Intercommunity Art Connections exhibit born from the Women Strong Art Project, led by Audrey Davis and Janet Lasley. They decided to initiate such a project in the Miami Valley region so that, “women artists in the region could benefit from the joy and beauty of knowing, exchanging, and experiencing the knowledge, wisdom, and artistic expression of other women artists in the region,” said Lasley.
The artists participating in this project include: Yvette Walker Dalton, Lois Fortson, Erin M. Smith, Frances Turner, Cydnie Deed King, Marsha Pippenger, Yufeng Wang, Diana Barr, Elyssa Wortzman, and Nasrin Majidi. A reception for the artists will be held Sunday, January 22, from 2:30-4:30 pm at the Main Library, Community Rom 3A, Third Floor. The public is welcome to attend.
