Becky Suss: Home

The Contemporary Dayton is proud to present Becky Suss: Home, an exhibition of paintings that are a meditation on how the memory of place functions as the foundation of identity. Home is curated by Philadelphia-based art historian, Greer Pagano.

Inspired by her personal family heritage and traditions, Suss’ work recognizes generations of women who have made homes, built memories, and shaped the consciousness of their families. Her large-scale works use flattened architecture, exaggerated proportions, and distorted perspective as holistic depictions of the felt and remembered qualities of space; while her small paintings of objects and books are a library of charged personal items.

Home will be shown at The Contemporary Dayton from January 13 through March 26, 2023.
