20 Years Later: In Celebration of the Dayton Peace Accords
This focus exhibition in Gallery 222 - featuring a painting on loan from the University of Dayton and two works from The DAI's permanent collection - commemorates the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Accords, the peace agreement reached on November 21, 1995 by the presidents of Bosnia, Croatia, and Serbia under the auspices of the United States envoy, Richard Holbrooke. The agreement was initialed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, then formally signed in Paris on December 14, 1995. The accords put an end to the war in Bosnia and structured a General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 2015 Dayton Peace Accords 20th Anniversary is being held in commemoration of the signing of the Accords and to further discuss current events and progress. The commemoration takes place in Dayton on November 18-21, 2015, and The Dayton Art Institute is pleased to be one of many participating arts institutions in the community to honor this momentous occasion.
