UPDATE: Wright State withdraws from presidential debate
WSU will host the first Presidential Debate in the upcoming 2016 general election season
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced from Washington, DC, today that Wright State University has been selected to host one of only four general election debates in the fall of 2016 where the final candidates will debate each other prior to the November general election.
“I could not be any prouder of our university and the fact that the Commission on Presidential Debates has entrusted Wright State to host such an important event,” said Dr. David Hopkins, president of the university. “I appreciate the fact that the commission had the daunting challenge of selecting just a few institutions out of a group of 16 applicants, and the fact that Wright State is one of the selectees is very gratifying and humbling. I am confident that our university will excel in supporting the commission and represent our students, faculty and staff, community, and the State of Ohio in a way that we will all be proud of. This is a huge “win” for all of us,” Dr. Hopkins concluded.
The debate is scheduled for Sept. 26, 2016 at the Nutter Center, according the announcement.
