Solstice Mandala Making: Mindful Paper Crafting

Sam invites you to join us for a morning of soft celebration, sinking into rhythms of creative repetition. This hands-on workshop lets you design your very own paper mandalas, using paper punches in all sorts of shapes and sizes and a dimensional layering technique… circles, petals, hexagons, and more!

Mandalas are geometric patterns that represent the universe, symbolizing wholeness, and the cyclical nature of life. They also mirror the summer solar energy, as the Sun, a central core that radiates outward with the Sun’s rays. Meditating on or creating a mandala during a solstice can harness the energy of that moment, and help plug you into into Earth's natural rhythms. Mandalas mirror the solar energy that radiates outward, like rays from the Sun. Happening on Father’s Day, as a nice way to honor the bright and activating influence of the divine masculine in your life.

As you layer paper pieces, the pattern of the mandala slowly reveals itself, like a cyclical puzzle coming together. It’s a calming, mindful activity that can be simple or intricately detailed. It can be perfectly symmetrical or a wild burst of chaotic collaged layers.

You’ll have access to over 20 giant coffee table books to hunt for textures and colors to upcycle, as well as cardstock and foam adhesive pieces to add dimension to your designs. You’ll have glue pens, glue dots, glue sticks… tweezers, teeny scissors, and all sorts of helpful tools to make your mandala dreams come true.

Best part? You can take home extra paper supplies so you can keep crafting those mandalas long after the workshop ends!

What to expect:

-A library of over 20 art books to upcycle paper and cardstock galore
