Sinclair Community Jazz Ensemble Concert
On Friday, April 27, at 8:00pm, the Sinclair Community Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Bill Burns will present a free concert featuring Trombonist, Rick Simerly. The concert will take place in Blair Hall Theatre, Building 2 on the downtown campus. Repertoire will include traditional and contemporary music by some of the top arrangers in jazz including Gary Carney, Alan Baylock, and Eric Richards. Rick Simerly has performed with The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, The Woody Herman Orchestra, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, and the Smithsonian Masterworks Jazz Orchestra. Formerly, Rick has served as associate professor at Milligan College in Tennessee. In addition, Rick has been a member of the Jamey Aebersold summer jazz camps faculty for over 20 years. The Sinclair Community Jazz Ensemble includes area jazz educators and performers from across the Miami Valley. Musicians include Adam Uhlenhake, Scott Gasaway, Peter Schomburg, Brad Morgan, Jeff Spurlock (saxophone); Chris Andrews, Phil Erskine, Bill Dixon, Todd Couch (trombone); Brian West, Ken Taylor, Jan Hare, Dave Gribler, Manfred Stamguts (trumpet); Jeff Black (piano), Eddie Brookshire (bass), Mike Uchic (drums). Director/Saxophonist Bill Burns is past president of the Jazz Education Connection of Ohio and has had the honor of leading the Sinclair Community Jazz Ensemble since 2015.
