Miami County Relay For Life of Miami County Hosts Fundraiser

The 2014 Miami County Relay for Life is just around the corner. It is never too late to join the effort to strike out cancer in our community. The 2014 Relay For Life of Miami County is hosting a nine pin no tap Dutch Double tournament to raise awareness and funds to help fight cancer in our community.

“We really want to unify the community when it comes to knowledge and action regarding cancer research.” said Kevin Schmitz, 2014 Relay For Life of Miami County Fundraising Chair. “Times are changing and cancer is attacking all different types of people from young to elder, make to female. We really want to unify all age groups and expand on our base group of people that are involved with cancer fundraising and research.”

In addition to the bowling tournament, Relay For Life committee members will have informational areas set up to educate the community on different ways to get involved in the 2014 Relay For Life of Miami County. Relay teams will also be selling various items to contribute to individual team fundraising goals.

All you need to do in order to participate in the tournament is register you and a partner, give a $25 team donation and come up with a team name by January 10th. A trophy and cash prize will be awarded to the first and second place teams.

This 2014 Relay For Life Kickoff is not just for those participating in the tournament.

“We will be having a silent auction and raffle with all different kinds of prizes ranging from gift certificates at local eateries to baskets and collectibles,” says Schmitz.

Join us in our fight for a cure on Saturday January 18th from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Brel-Aire Bowling Lanes. Proceeds from the Strike Out Cancer Community Kickoff will benefit the American Cancer Society.
