Join us for a program series highlighting Dayton's legacy to the Civil War. This Wright Library partnership with the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and the Miami Valley Civil War Round Table brings in local historians and fascinating stories.

  • Thursday, February 20 - "Lincoln’s Recruitment Dilemmas During the Civil War" - Dr. Ron Helms will examine the issue of why men did not fight, based on the groundbreaking Civil War history by Paul Taylor entitled ‘Tis Not Our War.  
  • Thursday, March 20 - "37th Ohio Volunteer Infantry" - Richard Bartell presents on the 37th Ohio Volunteer Infantry’s War.
  • Thursday, April 17 - Book discussion: “Why the North Won the Civil War,” edited by David Donald.
