Adventure Summit Speaker Ian Kallay - AXUS: Across the US, Cycling for a Cause
In the summer of 2014, Ian set his sights on tackling an adventure unlike anything he’d done before. With his brother, Shane, driving alongside with support and gear, Ian planned to cycle 3207 miles across the United States passing through nine different states in 37 days. If enduring 35 mph head winds, 10,000-foot mountains and 110 degree heat wasn’t enough, Ian’s trip was guided by the desire to raise money and awareness to combat human trafficking and to inspire others to embrace their own fears. His will was truly tested in Sacramento, California, where 87 miles from the finish, an accident fractured his hand, ceasing his ability to ride. With options limited, but a strong desire to finish, the decision was made to run the rest of the way.
Presenter Bio: Ian is originally from Painesville, Ohio where he attended Riverside High School. Just after turning 20 years old, Ian received his undergraduate degree in marketing from Wright State’s Raj Soin College of Business. Currently, he is in the process of working towards his master's in Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship while working a Graduate Research Assistantship at Wright State’s Research Institute. Ian is a member of Wright State’s Cross Country and Track teams as well.
