Thanksgiving Feast of Giving 2020 Canceled
The annual Feast of Giving at the Dayton Convention Center has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Thanksgiving Feast of Giving 2020 Canceled
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of the Feast of Giving community event for the City of Dayton for 2020. Sponsors and organizers were recently notified that the City had made the difficult decision to close the Dayton Convention Center for the remainder of 2020.
Dr. Steve Levitt and Dr. Tom Olsen, co-chairs of the Feast of Giving, relate, "Without a dining space for some 8,000 - 10,000 people, and the cooking operations of the Dayton Convention Center, the decision became straightforward. Our board considered a number of different alternatives and options yet the reality to effectively and safely feed so many people would be impossible."
The Feast of Giving Community Event has been sponsored since 2009 by ABC22/FOX45, Dermatologists of Southwest Ohio, RTA and Lastar (now known as Legrand). Before 2009, the Elder Beerman Family Foundation sponsored the event in the Dayton community for 40 years. The event emphasizes warmth and hospitality as well as a hot Thanksgiving meal for all.
Felice Shane, board member of the Feast of Giving commented, "While we are disappointed about not being able to stage the Feast of Giving in 2020, we are committed to coming back in 2021 to the Dayton Convention Center to hold the best Feast of Giving ever."
