Dayton History have announced that their Dayton Heritage Festival at Carillon Park, which was due to take place on May 24, Memorial Day weekend, has now been rescheduled to Saturday September 5, Labor Day weekend.
The family-friendly Patriot Freedom Festival at the Dayton VA Medical Center has been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Springboro and Miamisburg have canceled their Memorial Day parades, while Centerville will live-stream their Memorial Day ceremony. Beavercreek has not made a final determination but is looking at alternatives to its traditional ceremony.
Memorial Day Weekend at Youngs Dairy has also been canceled for 2020.
Also, the Feast of the Flowering Moon Festival in Chillicothe, Ohio has been canceled due to COVID-19. The board of directors for the Memorial Day weekend festival said in a statement that they were saddened to share the news, but the decision was made "in the best interest of health and safety to our community, vendors, performers, and volunteers".
The latest announcements follow a slew of area cancelations including July 4th celebrations, including the cancelation of fireworks at Riverscape, and stretching through the entire summer festival season.
