Irish Band Rend Collective at Christian Life Center
The Irish band, Rend Collective is unique in several ways beyond their distinct sound, such as their collection of instruments which includes some children’s toys and some handmade oddities. They have also recorded a live album on the beach while sitting around a campfire and filmed a video onboard a fishing boat in raucous waters. However, Rend Collective shares the common message of unity, encouraging others to come together under God’s love. Their toe tapping, spirit lifting, high energy musical tour of enlightenment will be at the Christian Life Center for performance on Thursday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m.
While on stage Rend Collective takes great pleasure in a responsive audience as it’s a confirmation that their message is being heard. “My favorite part of performing is hearing other people sing. We don’t travel to hear ourselves sings, but to hear others raise their voices to God,” said Gareth Gilkeson, drummer and bandleader.
At the age of 11, Gilkeson started playing the drums and at 13, he was encouraged to start playing at church. From there he has seen the hand of God lead him into the development of Rend Collective, which originated as a worship band and after hits such as ‘My Lighthouse’, ‘You Will Never Runaway’, and ‘Build Your Kingdom Here’, is a world renowned Christian, folk rock group. The formation started at Rend, a ministry for spiritually hungry young adults, seeking an authentic, raw, and real expression of church, in a small coastal town named Bangor in Northern Ireland. The ministry has since expanded to many nations through the sound of Rend Collective’s music.
The level of success achieved by the band is much more than any of them ever imagined. “We never intended to be celebrities, we are just simply being a part of the church,” said Gilkeson. “Coming from a small town in a small country to now touring the world, could have never happened without God leading the way.”
At Christian Life Center, like for all of their performances, Rend Collective encourages all to attend no matter their religious beliefs and be enamored by the sounds. “Jesus was all for the outsiders and outcasts, so we want to create a place for all to come and enjoy music that glorifies God,” said Gilkeson.
For a one-of-a-kind concert experience, don’t miss Rend Collective on Thursday, November 18 at the Christian Life Center, 3489 Little York Rd., in Dayton.
