If you're looking for truly local radio programming, here are some great local Dayton stations.
What local Dayton radio stations do you listen to?
WYSO 91.3 FM
While WYSO has some national programming from NPR, many of our favorite shows are local like Kaleidoscope, Excursions, and iconic Dayton favorite: Around the Fringe with Rev Cool. These DJs play Dayton bands, world beat, jazz, and just about everything in between. There are plenty of national stations playing top 40 – WYSO is where to go to hear something a little “left of the dial.”
WWSU 106.9 FM
Wright State University’s radio station WWSU plays anything from popular music to stuff you’ve never heard before. College students who have taken certain courses in Communications can have radio shows and it’s a lot of fun to hear what the kids are listening to these days.
WUDR 98.1 FM
University of Dayton’s Flyer Radio station WUDR works much the same way as WSU’s. There are some seriously popular shows on WUDR, and they do a great job of promoting local bands and live shows going on around town.
Gem City Podcast
It might not reach you via radio waves, but Gem City Podcast had to be mentioned because it’s programming for Daytonians from Daytonians about Dayton. Each show features a special guest who helps to discuss all of the goings-on around town.
The Eagle 95.3 FM
The Eagle is the station to listen to for 80’s rock hits. Located in Dayton in the Cox Media building, The Eagle has become one of the most popular radio stations in Dayton because who doesn’t love the 80s?
WDPR 88.1 FM
Discover Classical is a public radio station that plays – you guessed it – classical music. This station’s history begins in the 80s back when they were only on the air 7 hours every day. They’ve come a long way!
WDPS 89.5 FM
Billing themselves as the only jazz station in Dayton, WDPS, the Dayton Public School’s station sends tons of jazz over the airwaves staffed only by students and volunteers.
WROU 92.1 FM
WROU, home of the Tom Joyner Morning Show is an R&B station and has an active Facebook page with giveaways and promotions galore! Check out their website for more information.
Oldies 97.3 FM
Based in Huber Heights, Dayton Oldies only takes a break from playing the oldies to announce Wayne’s sporting events. Their all-volunteer crew plays oldies from the 1950s – 1970s.
