5 reasons not to miss the 2nd Street Market’s Artisan Night on Dec. 12
Take a break to “make” this holiday season during Artisan Night at the 2nd Street Market. On Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Market will host an evening of crafty fun and food with more than 30 vendors.

“This event is a chance to relax, enjoy the holiday atmosphere in the Market and learn from its many artisans,” said Market Manager Lynda Suda. “There’s a warm, community atmosphere at the Market year-round, but this is especially true during the holidays.”

Whether you want to unwind and get creative or spend quality time with your family, Artisan Night is a great way to decompress during the busy holiday season.

1) Festive fun

Many aspire to achieve a handmade holidays look in their home and the vendors at the Market can help.

Regina Emery of Studio Regina said the Market is a must during the holidays — especially during Artisan Night when she will be helping people work on fused glass ornaments in the shape of either a snowman or Christmas tree. The ornaments will be ready for pick up the week after they have been fired and make a great gift or home holiday decoration.

Consider the Lilies also will be hosting a wreath decorating workshop at Artisan Night, during which visitors can create their own wreaths using fresh greens.

2) Stop and shop

With more than 30 vendors open during Artisan Night, there will be plenty of shopping opportunities for visitors to enjoy. If you aren’t in the mood to craft, grab a bite or a sweet treat and knock some people off your shopping list.

3) Handmade by you

In addition to festive workshops, many Market artisans will host other DIY workshops for people of all ages.
For those who may be intimidated by creating their own holiday gifts, Emery suggests trusting your own personal style and to simply have fun with the process of creating something from the heart.

Kids can work on a project hosted by the Friends of the Humane Society and will enjoy helping their grownups create a terrarium with Now and Zen Terrariums. Hedy Riegel Studio will be hosting a stamping workshop and Willowdale Farm will show visitors how to create their own bath salts.

4) Grab some grub

Sit down for dinner or enjoy a snack during Artisan Night. Prepared food vendors, including Cheeky Meat Pies, Invoke, Crepe Boheme, Napales Mexican Street Food, Tara’s Place, Isaan Baan Thai Noi, The Chef’s Case, Azra’s Mediterranean Cuisine and Caffeine Carl will be open and serving up fresh, delicious food.

5) Live Music

For those who want to relax in the dining area, Anna Baugham will be playing a mix of fun and festive tunes, while carolers from Jameson’s Folly stroll through the market signing traditional holiday songs.
Event attendance is free, but fees are associated with workshops and vary.

Be sure to head back to 2nd Street Market the weekend following Artisan Night on Dec. 15 and 16 for a visit with Santa. Families can take photos and review their wish lists with Santa and grab a delicious treat at the Market.

Additionally, the Market will be open Sundays through the end of December. On Sunday, December 23 the Market will host a Stock Up Sunday event when shoppers can get last minute ingredients for their holiday meals, prepared dishes and gifts.

Regular Market hours include:

Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
