The Beauty of Artistry in Wood

If you haven't been to the Artistry in Wood event here in the Dayton Area, you are in for a treat this year. I had the pleasure of chatting with Don recently to learn bit more about what he does and why.
The Beauty of Artistry in Wood
Imagine; you are out shopping and you walk up to a window where you see a gorgeous woodcarving. You spot a horse beautifully carved and painted a soldier with our American flag that inspires you and causes you to put your hand over your heart. This is the type of artistry in wood you will get from Don Worley and his fellow woodcarvers from around the country and Canada. If you haven’t been to the Artistry in Wood event here in the Dayton Area, you are in for a treat this year.
I had the pleasure of chatting with Don recently to learn bit more about what he does and why. So, where does this inspiration come from?
This year is the 31st year that this Artistry in Wood even has taken place, and you should know that it’s all for a great cause. The Dayton Carvers Guild is responsible for holding this event each year, and the group is comprised of many men and women that come from all over the country and Canada to bring their work to life for you. This show has been noted as the largest one of its kind in the nation, and it’s al for a worthy cause.
This event is supporting United Rehabilitation and Children’s Hospital, which has tugged at the heartstrings of many that live in the Dayton Area. Those who attend this show will be awed by the clean look and precision used to carve these gorgeous wood structures for your enjoyment to view and purchase. Imagine that you attend this event, and you find that perfect Christmas gift that you wouldn’t find elsewhere and you get your shopping down without the hassle in November!
The beauty of this event is that children under 12 will get the chance to participate in building projects under the supervision of experts of course from Western Ohio Woodworkers. This is yet another group that assembles more than 900 toys for the good of the "Smile a Minute” program, and those are all donated to Children’s Hospital in Dayton. How could you NOT attend?

This event has locked arms with the United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton in a massive effort to support the organization and the wonderful things they do for some amazing people.
Artistry in Wood will be open at the Dayton Airport Expo Center, from 10 am to 6pm on Saturday, and on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $7 for a one day pass for adults and $10 for a two day pass for adults.
Be sure to check out all of the decoys, furniture pieces, and more at the Artistry in Wood Event, and remember, with your attendance, you will be helping out some worthy children and others that need your support!
